Literacy Month at Early Steps Learning Center was packed with fun stories and activities. We hope that the children have been sharing the stories and excitement for reading at home! We wrapped up the month with a very adorable addition to the ESLC Family…introducing Prince Charles, our Pre-Kindergarten Class Bunny! Prince Charles loves being spoiled by all the attention and stories.
During the month of March, all classrooms are excitedly exploring the theme “Favorite Children’s Authors.” These authors include: Eric Carle, Bill Martin, Jr., Dr. Seuss, Mercer Mayer and Denise Flemming. The Kindergarten Enrichment class had a lot of fun during the Eric Carle week making a “spider web” after reading The Very Busy Spider. Who knows what we’ll spin up in the weeks to come!!
In our preschool programs we recently explored the occupations of different “Community Helpers.” During this week we had a visit from a local dentist office as well as one of our grandparents who is a postal worker. The children enjoyed learning about these two helpers, and enjoyed the goodies they were able to take home! A big thank you to all of our local Community Helpers who work so hard to make our community a wonderful place to live.
To our new Wickliffe parents and children – welcome to the ESLC Family! We are blessed that you have joined us. As you can see, the teachers, staff and children are having great fun playing and learning together.
Congratulation, PreK Graduates! We couldn’t be more proud of you! You are ready for Kindergarten and we can’t wait to hear about all the wonderful things you will learn and do! Please keep in touch and visit us soon! Have a great summer! – ESLC Staff and Family “You’re off to Great Places! Today is your day! Your mountain is waiting, So… get on your way!” ― Dr. Seuss, Oh, The Places You’ll Go!

During our “Community Helpers: Doctors” week, we were blessed to have a parent who is a nurse visit the Preschoolers and provide everyone with masks, gloves and gauze! The children enjoyed seeing and learning about a “real-life” nurse, and we are always excited when parents are able to participate!
Children in all of the classes were able to invite one special adult to join them for tea, cookies and crafts! The turn out was great and both big people and little people had a wonderful time! Happy Valentine’s Day!
Thanks to Lieutenant John Boos and Fireman David Grice of the Richmond Heights Fire Department for spending time with our Preschoolers! During the second week of our “Community Helpers” unit, they came in and spoke to the Preschoolers about fire safety, showed them the special equipment that they use and even showed them what a fireman would look like if they came to rescue them–so they would not be afraid!
